Performance Coaching (LEAD-510)


Description

Unlock your potential as a performance coach with this digitally delivered RPI ProCourse, designed to help you build the skills needed to guide individuals and teams toward greater success. Through a dynamic, scenario-based coaching experience, you will support a fictional first-time manager as they navigate the challenges of developing key leadership capabilities. Each week, you will listen in on coaching conversations, explore best practices in leadership development, make strategic decisions within the scenario, and craft actionable recommendations and goals to support growth. Participants who complete the course will be awarded continuing education units (CEUs), a verified digital badge, and a Certificate of Completion from RPI. 

Coursework

Across six weeks, you will take part in a simulated coaching experience, supporting a fictional first-time manager in developing leadership skills in three key areas: time management, delegation, and giving honest, timely feedback. Each week focuses on a specific phase of the coaching journey:

  • Week 1: Getting Started with Performance – Begin your coaching journey by exploring foundational principles of performance coaching and crafting your personal coaching vision statement.
  • Week 2: Beginning a Coaching Engagement – Participate in a simulated kickoff session and design a SMART action plan to support leadership development.
  • Week 3: Time Management Coaching – Leverage strategies like the Pomodoro Technique and Eisenhower Matrix to guide the creation of focused, practical time management goals to enhance employee productivity.
  • Week 4: Delegation Coaching – Learn strategies to coach others in delegating effectively and empowering their teams to succeed.
  • Week 5: Honest & Timely Feedback Coaching – Apply coaching techniques to guide employees to build confidence and skill in delivering feedback in constructive, real-time ways.
  • Week 6: Reflection and Next Steps - Reflect on your growth as a performance coach and evaluate your readiness to apply your skills in real workplace scenarios.

Technology & Logistics

You will complete all coursework through Rensselaer’s digital classroom environment, with feedback provided by your course mentor along the way. The coursework will primarily be self-paced.

Audience

This course is intended for managers and emerging leaders who want to strengthen their coaching skills and effectively support the growth of their team members.

Payment is accepted via credit card only. Refunds (minus processing fees) may be issued up to the course’s official start date. After the course has begun, refunds are no longer available.
