Conflict Resolution (LEAD-530)
Description
This digitally delivered RPI ProCourse places you in the role of a team leader at a large global company, tasked with resolving a critical internal communication and implementation problem that is stalling a vital project. By engaging in a realistic scenario, you will explore advanced conflict resolution strategies, leadership techniques, and team dynamics management. The course challenges you to address and resolve a specific team member's disruptive behavior, restore team cohesion, and successfully guide your team to meet its objectives. Completion of this non-credit course will result in a digital credential and a Certificate of Completion from RPI.
Project Overview
In this course, you will engage in a simulation as a team leader tasked with solving a significant internal problem at your company. This disruption and related conflict, which stems from a disengaged employee, threatens the success of the entire project. Your challenge will be to leverage a framework to delve into the root causes of this team member's behavior and implement conflict resolution strategies to realign them with the team's goals. You will need to re-establish clear expectations, set new deadlines, and address the underlying issues affecting this team member's performance. By the end of the course, you will have applied practical leadership and communication skills to navigate complex team dynamics, with the goal of restoring productivity and ensuring successful completion of the project. You will leave the course with an actionable framework and skills that can be leveraged to resolve conflicts in your own organization.
Technology & Logistics
You will complete all coursework through Rensselaer’s digital classroom environment, with feedback provided by your course mentor along the way. The coursework will primarily be self-paced, with synchronous sessions that will provide an opportunity to engage with the content and course mentor(s) in a live setting.

This non-credit course is designed for adult learners seeking to enhance their skills in conflict resolution and restore team cohesion. No prior education is required.
