Full course description

Change Management (LEAD-520)

Time to Complete: 12 - 17 hours, on average

Description

In this self-paced, digitally delivered RPI ProCourse, you will develop leadership skills for guiding people through organizational change in a dynamic, scenario-based environment. In this scenario, you will step into the role of a trusted advisor guiding an organizational change initiative. As you explore the human and organizational complexities of change, you will apply trusted models like the Kübler-Ross Change Curve and Lewin’s three-phase change model.

Along the way, you will sharpen your ability to lead others through resistance, communicate with clarity, and navigate stakeholder dynamics with empathy and strategy. By the end of the course, you will be equipped to guide change initiatives with greater confidence and impact. Participants who complete the course will be awarded continuing education units (CEUs), a verified digital badge, and a Certificate of Completion from RPI.

Coursework

Over the course of four modules, you will guide the characters in this scenario through the change process according to Lewin’s three-phase change model: Unfreeze, Change, and Refreeze. Details for each module are included below.

  • Module 1: Introduction to Change Management – Explore the emotional stages individuals experience when faced with significant change and predict the reactions of group members within the scenario as they encounter an organizational transition.
  • Module 2: Unfreeze – Develop a communication plan centered on the change initiative, taking into account diverse stakeholder reactions and refining your message to address their concerns.
  • Module 3: Change – Guide the change process by selecting and working with a change champion.
  • Module 4: Refreeze – Solidify the change by reflecting on the results of a 100-day survey, then draft a final communication that reinforces the change and ensures long-term buy-in.
